The TYF! podcast was launched in 2013 by Liam McEneaney to help promote his Tell Your Friends! The Concert Film!, and quickly gained a large cult following, as well as critical acclaim in the AV Club and various comedy blogs.
The podcast is produced in an “audio magazine format,” which means the podcast featured essays and stories read and told by Ophira Eisenberg, Stephen Tobolowsky, Adam Wade, Bob Powers, and many others.. In addition, every episode features at least one longform interview with guests including comedians such as Lewis Black, Janeane Garofalo, Todd Barry, W. Kamau Bell, and Gilbert Gottfried; bestselling authors like Jon Ronson, Baratunde Thurston, and Lawrence Block; and musicians like Mike Doughty, Kaki King, and Catherine Popper. In addition, Liam has talked to filmmakers, radio hosts, cartoonists, and anyone else who has caught his attention.
Liam McEneaney is, according to GQ, one of the “100 Best Comedians of All Time,” as well as a writer and producer. He has appeared on Showtime, Vh1, IFC, and Comedy Central. He has written for various TV shows, and served as a contributing writer for “Weekend Update” on Saturday Night Live and Hannibal Buress’ set on The Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber. He produced and starred in Tell Your Friends! The Concert Film!, which co-starred Reggie Watts, Kurt Braunohler & Kristen Schaal, and Christian Finnegan, and made its world premiere at the 2011 SXSW Film Festival.
